In short#
You are a provider when your organisation publishes products for consumers to subscribe to. You publish and version products in Studio; each product gets a gateway address, and every consumer call passes the gateway, which checks the key, the subscription and the quota before it reaches your service.
What these guides cover today#
- Create a version and deprecate one: what happens to subscribers when a major version is retired.
- Versions and breaking changes: what counts as breaking.
- A provider can enable a Sandbox environment for a product (the provider's test service) or configure mock responses.
- Subscribers are notified when a provider changes the price of a plan.
Related#
- Authentication: what your consumers send.
- Errors, status codes and retries: what the gateway answers before a call reaches you.
